Tortas are basically a Mexican-style sandwich with crunchy panini-pressed bread around your choice of beef, chicken, or pork, stuffed and served with lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and pickled jalapenos. All our meats are marinated and cooked on our grill to perfection, but if it’s your first torta with Los Agaves, we recommend trying it with our famous Al Pastor Pork, shaved from our pineapple-spit-cooked roast. Try our homemade salsas–medium or mild–for a little added kick.

History of the Torta

Where’d the torta come from? It’s speculated that during the French occupation, Mexican bakers were inspired to emulate the crusty French baguette and started producing small loaves called bolillos or teleras, similar to baguettes in their flakey, crunchy exterior and soft pillowy inside. A good torta can be stuffed full of flavorful, authentic ingredients and still keep its shape, making for a great meal on the go!
